Ethernet retrofit via coaxial cable with professional management

Ethernet retrofit via coaxial cable with professional management

The Axing EoC system (Ethernet-over-Coax) uses the coaxial cable for the distribution of internet signals. Through this Ethernet retrofit solution you can create fast Internet access without installing new cables. Any satellite or terrestrial TV signal can still be transmitted via the same cable. The use of the shielded coaxial cable offers many advantages over other technologies:

  • High range for long cable distances (up to to  700 m)

  • Stable connections without interference from other electrical devices

  • No electrosmog, no bugging

Ethernet-over-Coax allows an easy modernization of a hotel, clinic, multi-family house or similar without additional re-wiring. An ethernet network with all features can be established via the existing coaxial cable. Each participant is given fast Internet access. Additional services such as VoIP telephony or IPTV can also be transmitted over the network. This makes Ethernet-over-Coax the ideal solution for establishing future-proof networks without new cabling. The EoC 10-0x system has been developed exclusively for a professional application. (We offer also a consumer-orientated Ethernet retrofit solution here).

Components of an Ethernet-over-Coax System

The EoC Master (EoC 10-01) is connected to an Internet router and the coaxial cable network. The endpoints are managed centrally via the master’s web interface. The Master can manage 31 endpoints. The EoC 10-02 endpoint is connected to a return channel-capable antenna socket via the F connector. The antenna TV signal is not affected and can be looped through to the TV. If you are using satellite reception, the connection between the satellite output and the TV remains established. On the two RJ45 Ethernet ports and via WiFi, you can operate any Internet device or network component.

The system supports IPv4 & IPv6 with DHCP, RADVD or manual IP allocation. The connection has a link speed of 100 or 1000 Mbps Ethernet (Gigabit), the data rate is 720 Mbps. Standard: ITU-T G.9960 / G.9961 G.hn over Coax with data transmission in the frequency range 5-65 MHz as well as 85-1218 MHz for television and radio. The commissioning and administration (including firmware updates) of all endpoints is carried out centrally by the master.

Advantages:

  • Use the existing TV distribution for professional modernization in a hotel, pension, clinic, residential complex

  • Input of Internet / IP signals into existing coaxial cable networks, together with cable TV, terrestrial TV or satellite reception

  • High data rate of up to 720 Mbps, up to 700 m long cable route

  • Central web interface for setup and managing up to 31 endpoints

  • Endpoints with ethernet port and WiFi, configurated via the Master

Requirements:

  • Existing coaxial cable network

  • Coaxial devices like amplifier, antenna sockets and splitters must support return-path

  • Fast internet connection
