Ethernet over Coax (Peer-to-Peer)

Ethernet over Coax Peer-to-Peer

With Ethernet over Coax (EoC) you use the existing coaxial cable for Internet and network data. Television and radio are still transmitted via the same cable. An AXING EoC modem is the interface to the network. This device is used to feed data into and out of the coaxial cable network. To set up an EoC network you need 2 modems. Additional access points can be created by additional modems (maximum 16). All modems communicate with each other on equal terms. This is why we speak of a peer-to-peer network.

Benefits at a glance:

  • Plug & Play

  • Up to 16 Peer-to-Peer modems

  • 2 Gigabit ethernet ports per modem

  • EoC 2-11 with WiFi

How it works:

For Internet access in the entire network you should connect an EoC modem to the router. All other EoC modems will then have access to the Internet. The bandwidth of your internet connection will be divided when used simultaneously. The connected devices can communicate both with the Internet and with each other. You can exchange, print and play files just like in a normal Ethernet.

The types EOC 1-31 and EOC 2-31 are downward compatible to the devices of the previous generation EOC 1-11 and EOC 2-11, because they use the same return channel range from 5 to 65 MHz. With a net data rate of 720 Mbps (PHY), you can achieve a high data throughput. EOC 1-32 and EOC 2-32 use the return path range from 5 to 204 MHz and achieve a net data rate of 1800 Mbps (PHY) due to the bandwidth. However: This is only possible if in a modern CATV network the forward path frequency range of the CATV network starts at 258 MHz or if transmitters below 258 MHz can be dispensed with.

Each modem has 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports. You can connect common network devices like PC, game console or streaming box to them – or even an Ethernet switch for more connections. The modems EoC 2-31 und 2-32 are additionally equipped with WiFi. Several devices such as smartphones, tablets or notebooks can then be connected wirelessly via it. You can configure the WiFi settings in detail if required.
