AXING Application Note
A fibre-optic connection provides very high internet speeds – unfortunately, these often only reach as far as the connection point in the basement – which is a long way from the router. Distributing the internet signal at this speed throughout the house therefore remains a challenge.
Router in the living room
The solution: MoCA simply transmits the signal from the ONT (Optical Network Terminator) to the router via the existing coaxial cable – at speeds of up to 2.5 gigabits per second.
Router in the basement
If you’re unlucky, the router may have been installed in the basement. MoCA can help here too.
The solution: The MoCA adapter is connected downstream of the router and transmits the internet signal via the existing coaxial cable to another MoCA adapter. A Wi-Fi repeater compatible with the router is connected to this adapter, which then provides internet access to the end devices.
